Dr Adam Barker
Research Fellow
Adam Barker is a Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science
and Software Engineering, at the University of Melbourne. Previously
he has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford
and the National e-Science Centre (NeSC), University of Edinburgh. He
holds a PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh on the
subject of Web service choreography. Prior to joining Edinburgh, he
obtained an MSc in Distributed Systems and a BSc (Hons) in Software
Engineering from Newcastle University. Complementing his academic
experience, Adam has completed internships at Hewlett Packard and BAe
Systems.
His primary research interests concentrate on the effective
engineering of very large-scale distributed systems, broadly covering
the areas of Cloud computing, Grid computing and e-Science. His
research agenda is pursued by modelling, evaluating and building novel
architectures and algorithms based on sound foundations in systems
